Medicare Assistance for the Hearing Impaired
If you have questions about Medicare or Medicare Supplement Insurance, but are unable to speak with an agent because you are hearing impaired, there are several options available to you to help you get the information you need.
Connect with a licensed insurance agent using a TTY device
A TTY device (also known as a text telephone) allows people who are deaf, hard of hearing, or speech-impaired use the telephone to communicate, by allowing them to type messages back and forth to one another.
If you have a TTY device, you can call 1-855-608-6871 to discuss your questions with a licensed insurance agent.
If you’re hearing impaired and need help paying for a TTY device, some state programs may be available to provide financial assistance to you.
Reach out to your State Health Insurance Assistance Program
If you do not have a TTY device and have questions about Medicare or need help enrolling, counseling services may be available through the State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) – a free health benefits counseling service for Medicare beneficiaries and their families.
Visit the official SHIP website at: https://www.shiptacenter.org/. It can help you find your local SHIP office.
